Queen Creek Climbing trip. This land around Oak Flat is the site of a brutal massacre of apache people. Many of them threw themselves off the cliffs as gunfire from settlers did not stop despite their surrender. This land is threatened again by a proposed mine that would turn this sacred landscape and incredible climbing area into a toxic hole in the ground. We love this space and are grateful to have visited again. 1 + 2 leading Net Positive Impact, beautiful sport multi pitch route. 3 @bluenootle tied off, waiting for pitch 2 on her first multi pitch. 4 @walrusdice sending something spicy that I wasn't stoked to lead all the way. CLASS ANNOUNCMENT Last year I ran Way of the Woods, a one weekend a month March-Sep Forest naturalist and traditional handcraft course through Roots School. This year I have updated and adapted the curriculum. Here are the highlights: Less cold (We start in April rather than March), More naturalist skills with the inclusion of phenology, animal tracking and species accounts to the curriculum; and, best of all, we have two new guest teachers this year!
